Burning Information and Current Burn Bans

Please download the Residential Burn Permit for Cowlitz County (Adobe PDF format) for use when burning piles of natural vegetation greater than four feet by four feet by three feet and less than ten feet by ten feet by six feet. Not applicable in the No Burn Areas of Longview/Kelso, Castle Rock or Woodland. For residential or land clearing burning in unincorporated areas of Lewis County, contact Lewis County Community Development. Before downloading a permit, check with your local fire department or city hall for area-specific restrictions and permits.

CLARK COUNTY

A Fire Safety Burn Ban is in effect for all of Clark County July 15 through September 30 prohibiting all residential and land clearing burning. A moderate fire danger level means that all land clearing burning is prohibited. Recreational campfires are allowed if built in approved fire pits in designated campgrounds. COWLITZ COUNTY

A Fire Safety Burn Ban is in effect for all of Cowlitz County July 15 through September 30; this prohibits all land clearing and residential burning. A moderate fire danger level means that all land clearing burning is prohibited. Recreational campfires are allowed if built in approved fire pits in designated campgrounds. LEWIS COUNTY

A fire safety burn ban for Lewis County is in effect July 10 until further notice, prohibiting all residential burning and land clearing burning. All small, recreational fires are allowed within UL-approved burning receptacles (not burn barrels) or approved campfire sites. All outstanding permits for outdoor fires will not be valid during this burn ban. For additional burning information, click here or contact Lewis County Community Development at 360-740-1146.

SKAMANIA COUNTY

A fire safety burn ban for Skamania County is in effect July 1 through September 30, prohibiting all residential burning as well as land clearing burning. A moderate fire danger level means that all land clearing burning is prohibited. The self-issue permit for small debris fires will no longer be valid. New self-issue permits will become available on October 1, 2008. Small, recreational campfires are allowed within approved areas. WAHKIAKUM COUNTY

A fire safety burn ban is in effect for Wahkiakum County prohibiting land clearing and residential burning until further notice. Recreational campfires are allowed if built in approved fire pits (no burn barrels) in designated campgrounds.
